Choose a cauliflower that’s blemish-free and looks white and creamy in color. If it’s individually wrapped make sure it doesn’t smell when you remove the plastic. Then remove the tough outer leaves with a sharp knife.

Air fry for 12 to 15 minutes or until the cauliflower steak is golden brown with crispy edges and fork-tender. You can turn the cauliflower steak and cook for a few more minutes for even browning on both sides. If the cauliflower looks dry, brush with more oil. For roasted and crispy cauliflower steaks with a charred exterior, cook for an extra few minutes.

Serve with a sprinkle of grated parmesan cheese and lemon wedges to drizzle.

Best Tips

  • Single layer – Leave some space around the cauliflower steaks, for the hot air to circulate completely and make it crispy. Cook in batches if needed. You can keep them warm by heating up all cauliflower for a minute or two in the Air fryer just before serving.
  • Be gentle – when you turn the cauliflower during cooking. I’ve had several come apart. It’s still perfectly tasty but if you’re going for a nice presentation be gentle when turning or removing.

How To Store And Reheat

STORE leftover cauliflower in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 to 4 days.

REHEAT them in the Air fryer at 350F for 2 to 3 minutes or until warm and crisp.

  • Sprinkle grated cheddar cheese at the end of cooking.
  • Use cajun seasoning, taco seasoning or fajita seasoning to kick things up a notch.
  • You can add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or lime juice for the marinade.

  • Serve them alongside any chicken or meat dish.
  • They’ll be great on their own with a spicy mayo or ranch dipping sauce drizzled on top.

Confused about this sentence: Cut each half into 1 to 1/5-inch thick slices. Are they 1 inch? or 1 and 1/5 inch?

    1. Hi Teri, There’s been a typo. I corrected it. It has to be 1-inch thick.
