    Air Fryer Baked Potatoes

Air fryer cooks baked potatoes the best! With crispy skin and a fluffy, fork-tender interior they are great with just butter and pepper or loaded with your favorite toppings. The russet potatoes are coated with oil, seasoned with salt and pepper and sprinkled with some Italian seasoning for added flavor.

I hardly cook baked potatoes in the oven. It takes too much time! But cooking the baked potatoes in the air fryer frees up my oven space for other main dishes. So while my meat is cooking in the oven, I can have potatoes baked in the Air fryer. Talk about efficiency!

I feel it's a waste of energy cooking a few potatoes in the oven. Also, opening my oven several times, getting the potatoes out, checking for doneness, putting them back again seems a lot of hassle to go through. Air fryer is so energy efficient and makes it so much easier to check whether potatoes are done!

Why we love baked potatoes in the Air fryer:

    • Crispy skin with a lot of flavor
    • Soft, fluffy interior
    • Easy and fast
    • Energy efficient

    INGREDIENTS

    • Russet potatoes - these are the best potatoes for baking. They're also called baking potatoes. Using yellow or red potatoes may change the texture and taste.
    • Olive oil - You can use vegetable, canola oil, avocado oil or any oil you prefer.
    • Salt - Kosher salt or sea salt
    • Pepper - freshly ground black pepper
    • Italian seasoning

How To Make Baked Potato In The Air Fryer

Baking potatoes in the Air fryer couldn't be any easier. Here's how to do it:

    1. Scrub, rinse and dry the potatoes.
    2. Pierce holes in the potatoes with a fork for the steam to escape.
    3. Coat the potatoes with olive oil.
    4. Mix salt, pepper and Italian seasoning in a small bowl.
    5. Rub the seasoning all over the potato.
    6. Place the prepared potatoes in the Air Fryer basket.
    7. Cook at 400℉ for 30 minutes. Flip the potatoes over and cook for another 15 to 20 minutes or until brown outside and tender inside. Cooking times may vary depending on the size of the potatoes and Air fryer model.
    8. Remove the baked potatoes from the Air fryer. Slice lengthwise from the center. Fluff inside. Serve warm with toppings of your choice.

    Best Tips

I have used medium sized potatoes. Choose potatoes that are the same size so they cook evenly.

I've read that if you don't pierce the potatoes it'll end up exploding in the oven. So I always made sure to poke the potatoes before they go in to the oven. And I've carried the same habit to my Air fryer as well. I'm not sure whether it will explode or not in the Air fryer since I haven't tested it out. I don't want to take my chances and neither do you. So, pierce holes in the Air fryer with a fork or knife to allow steam to escape.

Don't overcrowd the Air fryer basket. You may have to cook in batches if you have a small one.

    What Air Fryer to Use

I use a Cosori 5.8 quart basket type and is perfect for our family! I can cook 4 medium russet potatoes in it!

How Long To Cook Baked Potato In The Air Fryer?

Cooking times may vary based on the size of your potatoes and the Air fryer model. I suggest using medium sized potatoes around 8 to 10 oz each.

Cook at 400℉ for 30 minutes. And turn the potatoes over and cook for 20 minutes. You're looking for browned, crispy skin and a soft, fork-tender flesh. You may have to reduce the cooking times if it cooks faster. Keep on checking in the last few minutes. If it's not tender in the center or the thickest part of the potato cook for an additional 5 minutes.

    How To Store And Reheat

Let the potatoes come to room temperature. Store them without any toppings, covered in air tight container in the fridge for 3 days.

Reheat the baked potatoes in the Air fryer at 400℉ for 4 to 5 minutes until warm.

    Baked Potato Topping Ideas

The toppings options are endless. Here are some of my favorites.

    • Butter, freshly ground black pepper
    • Shredded cheddar cheese
    • Sour cream
    • Chives or green onion chopped
    • Pico de gallo (red onions, tomatoes and jalapeno peppers chopped)
    • Salsa
    • Homemade Chili
    • Cooked broccoli and cheddar cheese melted

New to air frying and haven't really tried to use it any. I do use most mornings to make cinnamon toast and my husband uses it to cook French fries. Would love to print out some of your recipes.
