Air Fryer Fudgy “Gooey” Brownies

I love baking in my Air fryer! I mostly bake meat or protein dishes and I wanted to try out baking desserts more. I didn’t want to heat up the oven to make a treat and using the Air fryer makes perfect sense!

As for these brownies, they are not your regular brownies. They are super fudgy, gooey brownies that should be scooped out by a spoon. Decadent and luxurious thanks to cocoa powder and dark chocolate used in the recipe, they have an intense chocolate flavor! If you’re a chocoholic like me, you’ll love this!

The brownies have a shiny and crinkly top, a gooey chocolaty center and a soft and fudgy texture. The sides hold up firm and you can cut it into pieces too.

What Cocoa Powder to Use

Since we are not using baking soda or baking powder in the recipe, you can use either a regular natural cocoa powder like Hershey’s or Dutch processed. Dutch processed cocoa powder is found in gourmet or specialized stores or online.

I used Hershey’s natural cocoa powder.

What Chocolate to Use

This recipe calls for bittersweet or dark chocolate with a 70% cocoa content. You can use the bar or chocolate chips in a pinch. I like to use the chocolate bar – roughly chopped, to give the gooey and fudgy texture.

The recipe will still work with semi sweet chocolate that has about 55% to 60% cocoa.

Which Baking Pans To Use

My Air fryer is 5.8 quart with a square shaped basket. I could fit in a 7″ round or square baking pan. Most Air fryers could fit baking pans of this size. The batter would fit a baking pan of 6″ to 7 ” inches.

Use a thin brownie pan, grease and line with parchment paper so that the brownie could come out easily.

If you have an air fryer insert with a handle, use that to bake the brownies in.

How To Bake Brownies In The Oven

If you don’t have an Air fryer, you can still bake these delicious fudgy brownies in the oven!

  1. Preheat the oven.
  2. Bake the brownies at 350 degree Fahrenheit for 15 minutes until the skin is formed on top and sides are set. Center will be a bit jiggly.
  3. Remove the pan from the oven and let it cool.

Storage Instructions

The brownies don’t last long in our house. If you have any leftover brownies, you can leave it at room temperature, covered, for 2 days. Or in the fridge for 7 days.

They will set once they are cold. You can warm them in the microwave if you prefer.

What To Serve Air Fryer Brownies with

Once out of the Air fryer, divide the warm brownies in to bowls. Here are some topping ideas to serve the brownies with:

  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Frozen yogurt
  • Toasted and crushed almonds, pecans or walnuts
  • Fresh strawberries or raspberries
