I have taken the roasted nuts a step further and made it gourmet with this Air fryer Sweet and Spicy Roasted Nut Mix. My family goes crazy over it! It makes a great appetizer or snack!
Unlike the store-bought roasted nuts, homemade nuts are so healthy and nutritious. I have included almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds(pepitas) and sweetened them with honey.
This recipe is so easy to make with a few simple ingredients. It's so versatile as well. Switch the nuts and seeds with your favorite nuts. I always have almonds and cashews in my pantry so that's what I used. Feel free to use pecans, walnuts, or even peanuts.
This honey-roasted nut and seed mix is lightly spiced with a sweet smoky flavor. Add more heat or spices if you want it fiery. I keep it mild so the kids can enjoy it as well.
Roasting this delicious snack will only take 10 to 12 minutes from start to finish in the Air fryer. That's why I love to make this in my Air fryer. It hardly takes any time. They are great as an after-school snack. If you're entertaining, you can make a batch at the last moment just before the guests arrive.

How To Make Air Fryer Roasted Nut Mix From Scratch
Making this addictive sweet and spicy roasted nut mix couldn't be any easier in the Air fryer. Here's how to do it.
- In a small bowl, mix oil, honey, hot sauce, paprika and salt until well mixed.
- Add the nuts and seeds to a large mixing bowl.
- Pour the dressing over the nuts and mix until all the nuts and seeds are well coated.
- Line the basket of your Air fryer with parchment paper.
- Transfer the nuts to the basket and place in a single layer.
- Air fry at 300 degree Fahrenheit for 10 minutes, stirring in between until the nuts are roasted.
- Remove the Air fryer basket. Transfer the nuts to a plate and let it cool.
- Break the nuts into clusters. Store in an air tight container.
Important Tips
- Line the Air fryer basket with parchment paper. You don't want nuts sticking to your Air fryer basket.
- Halfway during the cooking time stir the nuts so they won't burn.
- Cooking times depend on the type of Air fryer. And nuts will cook fast so keep an eye on the nuts around 7 minute mark.
Recipe Variations
You can change the ingredients and make different combinations of this roasted nut mix to your taste. This recipe is so versatile.
- Use Sriracha instead of hot sauce.
- Switch the nuts. Add pecans or walnuts.
- Add large coconut flakes. Roast them in the Air fryer for 2 minutes before mixing with nuts.
- Add raisins to make a trail mix.
Roasting Nuts In The Oven
If you don't have an Air fryer, you can make this recipe in the oven.
- Preheat the oven to 300 degree Fahrenheit.
- Place the coated nut mix on a parchment lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 10 minutes or until the nuts are roasted and crunchy.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool.
How to Store
Store the roasted nut mix at room temperature in an air tight container. It will last for a week. Make sure you close the lid tightly after every use.
