  • All-Purpose Flour
  • Baking Powder: Helps the biscuits rise and become fluffy.
  • Sugar: Adds a touch of sweetness and helps with browning and keeping the biscuits moist.
  • Salted Butter: Adds rich, buttery flavor and gives the biscuits that beautiful golden top.
  • Milk: Brings the dough together and keeps the texture soft and smooth.

Combine Dry Ingredients: Start by adding flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt into a large mixing bowl. Mix these ingredients well to ensure they’re evenly distributed.

Add Butter: Next, grate cold butter and add it to the flour mixture. You can also cube the butter and add it, but grating it allows for easier integration.

Mix Butter and Flour: Gently mix the butter into the flour until it becomes crumbly. This is an important step as it helps to distribute the butter evenly throughout the dough.

Add Milk: Gradually pour the milk into the mix, working it until a loose dough forms. Be careful not to overmix. It’s perfectly fine to have some pieces of butter in the dough.

Transfer and Spread Dough: Move the dough to a floured surface and spread it into a rectangle. Fold the dough twice then spread it into a 1½-inch thickness using your hands. You can also use a rolling pin gently on the top to get an even layer.

Cut the Dough: Use a pastry cutter to cut out 6 biscuits. Spread the remaining biscuit dough and cut another 2 biscuits.

Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer at 380 degrees F for 2 minutes. This step is crucial for achieving the perfect golden brown biscuits.

Air Fry the Biscuits: Spray the basket with cooking spray or place a parchment paper. Place the biscuits in the air fryer basket in a single layer and air fry for 8 to 10 minutes. Continue this process until the biscuits have risen and the tops are golden brown. You may need to work in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.

Brush with Butter: Finally, brush the biscuits with melted butter and serve. This step adds a delicious buttery flavor and a beautiful shine to your biscuits. Enjoy your homemade air fryer biscuits!

Recipe Tips

  • Use Cold Butter: Cold butter is key for flaky layers. I like to freeze the butter for a bit, then grate it right into the flour.
  • Don’t Overwork the Dough: Mix the dough just until it comes together. Overmixing can make the biscuits tough. Skip the food processor or stand mixer-your hands work best here.
  • Flour Everything: Lightly flour your dough and biscuit cutter to keep things from sticking while you cut.
  • Cook in Batches: Air fry the biscuits in a single layer, and don’t overcrowd the basket. I got 8 biscuits using a medium cutter and cooked them in two batches for even browning.
  • Finish with Butter: Brush the tops with melted butter right after cooking. It adds a golden sheen and that extra buttery flavor we all love.

How To Serve

Air fryer biscuits are super versatile and make a great side or snack. Here are a few tasty ways to enjoy them:

  • With Soup: These biscuits are perfect for dipping! Serve them with a cozy bowl of creamy tomato soup or hearty roasted broccoli soup for a comforting combo.
  • With Chili or Gravy: For something heartier, pair them with a warm bowl of chili or smother them in gravy. They soak up all that goodness and taste amazing.
  • As a Sweet Treat: Spread on some butter and drizzle with honey or your favorite jam. You can even slice them and stuff with cream and jam for a quick dessert-style biscuit.

How to Reheat Biscuits in Air Fryer

Got leftover biscuits? The air fryer is the best way to bring them back to life! Just pop them in at 350°F for 3 to 4 minutes to warm them through and get that fresh baked texture again. So much better than the microwave!

How To Cook Canned Biscuits in Air Fryer

Canned or refrigerated biscuits, like Pillsbury Grands, cook up perfectly in the air fryer! Just preheat to 380°F and air fry for 7 to 8 minutes until they’re golden and fluffy. Be sure to cook in batches if needed, so they have space to rise and brown evenly.

Why Aren’t My Biscuits Fluffy or Tall?

If your biscuits are turning out flat or not as fluffy as you’d hoped, it’s likely from overmixing the dough. Mixing too much can make them dense and tough. Try to mix just until the dough comes together, no more!

Also, check your baking powder. If it’s not fresh, your biscuits won’t rise properly. A quick tip: baking powder usually works best within 6 months of opening.
