They are a great source of protein and can be made ahead of time, making them perfect for busy mornings. Whether you're looking for something to perk you up in the morning or a snack to tie you over until dinner, air fryer egg bites are sure to hit the spot.

We love eggs over here for breakfast and some of our Air fryer favorites are hard boiled eggs and scrambled eggs.

    Why You’ll Love This Recipe:

    • Healthy breakfast: Egg bites are a nutritious breakfast packed with protein. The high protein comes from eggs, meat and cheese and it will help you keep full for longer. This is a gluten-free, low carb and keto diet friendly recipe.
    • Easy to make: This recipe comes together pretty quickly. Just whisk the eggs, add the toppings, and air fry. Simple as that.
    • Meal prep: They're great for meal prepping as these can be made ahead and kept in the fridge for a week. They also freeze beautifully. Grab them when you're out the door and eat it cold or at room temperature.
    • Versatile: They can be customized with different ingredients to boost their flavor or nutrition content.

Ingredients for Air fryer Egg Bites

ingredients for air fryer egg bites.

Eggs - use white or brown whole eggs. These egg bites can be made with egg whites (the liquid egg whites that comes in a carton can be used too), similar to the Starbucks egg whites bite.

Cream - I like to use some heavy cream. Half and half or milk can be used as well. Substitute dairy with any dairy free milk or you can leave it out.

Meat - The options are endless here. You can use bacon, ham, sausage, any cooked meat or chicken. I used chopped chicken mortadella. For vegetarian option, leave this out.

Spinach- Spinach and eggs go well together. Use other chopped greens or herbs.

Cheese - I used shredded cheddar cheese here but take your pick on cheeses. Mozzarella cheese, feta cheese or grated parmesan is delicious too.

Seasonings - salt and black pepper

What Do You Cook Egg Bites In?

    air fryer silicone egg mold.

I use a silicone egg mold that came with my air fryer accessories to cook the egg bites in the air fryer. These are the same molds used in Instant Pot to make egg bites too. When you buy a silicone egg bite mold, make sure it fits your air fryer.

You can also cook egg bites in silicone cupcake liners. Silicone mold is sturdier than individual silicone liners. Take extra care when transferring these cups filled with the egg mixture into the air fryer. Another option would be to use a small muffin tin that fits your air fryer.

    1. Remove the egg bites mold from the air fryer and let them cool for a few minutes. Loosen the egg bites out of the mold with a spoon and they should come out easily.

Recipe Tip - If the eggs are still uncooked while the tops are browned, cover the egg mold with aluminum foil, and cook for a few more minutes.

    Variations

The best thing about these egg bites are that they're easily customizable. I add whatever ingredients I have in the fridge when I'm making them. Here are some of the ingredients you can include:

    • Cooked veggies - chopped broccoli, carrot, bell pepper or mushrooms
    • Chopped onions, sliced green onions, chives
    • Taco meat
    • Spices - garlic powder, onion powder, paprika
air fryer egg bites cut in half.

    Storage

Any leftover egg bites can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.

These egg bites are also freezer friendly. Once cooled, wrap them individually in plastic wrap and transfer them to a freezer bag. They can be frozen up to 3 months. Thaw them overnight in the fridge or at room temperature if you're going to eat the same day.

You can reheat the egg bites in the microwave or to reheat in the air fryer see note below.

How To Reheat egg bites in air fryer?

It's so easy to reheat the egg bites in the air fryer. Place them in a lined air fryer basket and reheat at 350˚F for 2 to 3 minutes until they're warm.

You don't want to reheat them for more than a couple of minutes as they'll turn rubbery.

    frequently asked questions

How long to cook egg bites in air fryer?

You want them to cook at 340˚F for at least 14 minutes. When the time is up, insert a toothpick in each egg bite to check whether they're fully cooked. The toothpick should come out clean.
If they're still not cooked through, air fry them for a couple more minutes.

Why are my egg bites rubbery?

Egg bites can turn rubbery when you overcook them at a higher temperature or for a long time than it takes to cook.
For fluffy egg bites, make sure you check the egg bites and remove them when they're set as they'll continue to cook until they cool.
It might take a few tries to determine the correct temperature and time for the perfect egg bites in your air fryer.
