Air Fryer Carrot Fries are a total game changer at our house. My toddler’s obsessed, and even my teens who usually turn up their noses at veggies, finish the whole batch, especially with a side of spicy mayo sauce. If you love that sweet and salty combo, try the Air Fryer Carrots too, so good!

Air fryers are amazing for roasting vegetables. You get crispy, flavorful results in half the time it takes in the oven. For these carrot fries, just cut carrots into sticks, toss with olive oil and spices, and roast until they’re browned and tender. The natural sweetness of the carrots really comes through and pairs so well with the seasonings.

Now, don’t expect classic French fry texture, carrots don’t have that starchy fluffiness but they’re still a great, healthier alternative. They’re gluten free, vegetarian, and honestly just delicious.

Ingredients and Notes

  • Carrots: I used two medium carrots (about 13 oz). Look for thick, fleshy carrots, they’re easier to cut into fry shapes. If you’re using baby carrots, slice them in half lengthwise for more surface area to crisp up. You can also use store bought carrot chips for a shortcut.
  • Oil: Use olive oil, avocado oil, or any neutral oil you prefer.
  • Garlic powder
  • Smoked paprika: Regular paprika works too if that’s what you have.
  • Salt, Ground black pepper: Season to taste.

Air Fry: Preheat your Air Fryer to 390°F. Arrange the carrot sticks in a single layer in the basket. Don’t overcrowd, cook in batches if needed so they roast evenly. Air fry for 12 to 15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through. They should be tender, slightly crisp on the edges, and a little browned.

Seasoning Ideas

I love switching up the flavors to keep things interesting. Here are a few combos to try:

  • Cheesy: Sprinkle grated Parmesan on the carrot sticks before air frying.
  • Spicy: Swap the spice mix in the recipe with Cajun seasoning, Old Bay, or lemon pepper.
  • Sweet: For a sweet version, toss the carrots in melted butter, then sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. It’s like dessert fries, so good!

Tip for Extra Crispy Carrot Fries

  • Toss the carrots with 1 teaspoon of cornstarch before adding oil and seasonings, it helps absorb moisture and gives a crispier finish.
  • Don’t skip the oil! 2 tablespoons of olive oil is just right to help them roast and brown beautifully.
