Oh, I love a good chocolate milkshake on a hot summers day! And being the chocolate lover I am, more chocolate the better. If you miss your regular sugar and carb laden milkshakes don’t worry, I got you covered.

You don’t have to give up your favorite treats on keto. You just have to tweak a little bit. This double dose of chocolate milkshake will get your happy hormones up and running because it uses both cocoa powder and sugar free chocolate chips.

It’s a breeze to make too. Just gather your ingredients and let your blender do all the hard work.

This a yummy low carb keto milkshake without using tons of heavy cream. I have used the bare minimum to give the creamy taste and added Xanthan gum to make it thick and luscious. You can indulge in a milkshake everyday without the guilt now. I know I am.

What do you need to make sugar free chocolate milkshake?

Unsweetened almond milk– Unsweetened almond milk is keto and low carb friendly. Coconut milk from a carton (not from a can) will work as a dairy free option.

Heavy whipping cream– Coconut cream would be a good option for a dairy free version. Or the solid from a can of coconut milk.

Cocoa powder or Cacao powder – both works well. Make sure whatever you chose is unsweetened.

Sugar free Sweetener – use an Erythritol or a Monk fruit based sweetener, powdered rather than granulated. Or a liquid sweetener like a flavored sugar free syrup.

xanthan gum – this will help thicken milkshake and give that creaminess without ice cream or too much heavy cream. You can skip this if you want and add more cream but I highly recommend it you use it.

Sugar free chocolate chips – Use one that is stevia or erythritol sweetened.

Vanilla Extract, Pinch of salt– a must need to enhance the flavor of the milkshake.

How to make the low carb chocolate milkshake

Ingredients for keto double chocolate milkshake

Gather all your ingredients. Add unsweetened almond milk, heavy whipping cream, sweetener, cocoa powder, xanthan gum, salt to the blender. Do not add the chocolate chips now. We are going to blend the shake twice. First, we need to blend it smooth then add the chocolate chips and crush them to small bits.

Blend the milkshake to a smooth consistency. Then add chocolate chips and ice cubes.

Blended keto double chocolate milkshake

Blend till the chocolate chips are small enough to pass through a straw. Pour into a glass and garnish with chocolate shavings.

Keto milkshake add ins

There are any add- ins to make it even yummier, change it up or increase it’s nutrition from yummy desert to a powerhouse.

Avocado – this is another healthy addition and makes it even more creamy. Use about 1/4 of an avocado.

Protein powder or Collagen– a scoop or half scoop of unflavored protein powder, collagen or both and you will be having dessert for breakfast

This milkshake is best consumed fresh but I suppose it will stay up to a day in the fridge. But if you want to store it, give it a quick blend to make it frothy.
