Tips for Crispy Dry Rub Chicken Wings

  • Pat wings dry before seasoning. Using a paper towel pat wings dry to absorb extra moisture and prevent steaming. This makes the chicken wings nicely crisp up too.
  • Spray or line the basket. Spray the basket with an olive oil cooking spray to avoid sticking and burning. Line the basket with parchment or foil for easy clean-up, if you prefer. If you’re lining the basket make sure you leave enough space around the edges for airflow.
  • Single layer. Place the wings in a single layer without stacking them up. This helps them cook evenly. Cook in several batches if you’re cooking more than 1 pound or if you have a small air fryer.

  1. This recipe was fast and delicious! I made these wings last weekend for a Football day treat and my husband and I loved them. I made a lemon, honey yogurt sauce for dipping and also served a side of Sweet Baby Ray’s Barbeque sauce. Both were perfect with the wings. My favorite was a bit of BOTH sauces in each bite. spicey and cooling at the same time. Perfect! This weekend (more football) I offered to make something different, but my husbands request was to make this same recipe again! That works great for me, I’m looking forward to having them again tomorrow while we watch the 49ers VS the Cowboys in the NFL playoff games.
